You should make recipes for Chainmail Armor.

You make Chainmail Armor with Fire Blocks

That is right

That's actually pretty cool, you could make a full set of Chainmail Armor with 24 Iron Ingots, and 24 Flint.

EDIT:
Sorry, 3 Iron Ingots, and 3 Flint.

It is hard to see, but 1 Flint and Steel makes 8 Fire Blocks that means you only need 3 Iron Ingots and 3 flint
